What it takes

Lenoir County rules
- Lenoir County’s nine convenience sites are only for county residents who pay the $90 yearly solid waste fee with their county taxes (homeowners without trash pickup). City residents, businesses, and contractors go straight to the landfill, and no waste from outside the county is taken. Household trash is limited to 10 bags a day and can’t contain banned or recyclable materials. Recycling is mandatory: #1 and #2 plastic bottles and cans go in the recycling bins, cardboard broken down in its area, and paper in its own.
- Children under 12 and pets stay in the vehicle with the engine off, and dogs must be secured in a truck bed. You unload your own trash; no scavenging or alcohol.
- Neither the landfill nor the convenience sites take oyster shells, antifreeze, cooking oil, hazardous waste, herbicides, poisons, seafood, loads of dead animals, liquids, medical waste, or ashes.
