New Hanover County rules
- The landfill weighs every vehicle in and out and charges by the ton: $61 for trash and construction debris and $30 for yard waste, with a $5 minimum. Out-of-county waste pays a $500 flat fee on top.
- Tell the scale house about tires, appliances, yard waste, oil, antifreeze, batteries, or recycling: they go to separate areas, and a load more than 15% recycling pays a $500 surcharge.
