Rowan County convenience centers and dump hours
Convenience centers are what most people call the dump. This page covers six convenience centers, the Rowan County Landfill, and the Recycling Processing Center. Each one’s hours are posted below, with the rules that apply.
Convenience centers
- Recycling is free at the convenience centers, but household garbage is charged by weight: $1 for up to 2.5 pounds, then 25 cents more for each 2.5 pounds (a 40-pound load is $4.75). Truckloads of garbage are $20 for a half load, $35 for a full load, and $50 over the top; bulk items are $5 each. Sort recyclables before you arrive.

Landfills
- The landfill charges $46 a ton for waste from Rowan County, $49 from Davie County, and $60 from anywhere else, plus the $2 state tax. Every load must be covered or tied down, or it’s turned away, and commercial vehicles aren’t taken after 3:45 p.m.
- The landfill takes no hazardous waste, medical waste, liquids, or car batteries.
