Convenience centers

  • Rutherford County’s 10 convenience centers are for households outside city limits, which pay a $190 solid waste fee on their tax bill each year; town residents have trash pickup and aren’t to use them. No businesses, including anyone paid to haul a neighbor’s trash. The centers take household garbage, furniture, metal and appliances, motor oil and filters, cooking oil (except Hollis), car batteries, and mixed recycling (paper, glass, plastics #1-7 except foam, cans, and flattened cardboard, unbagged), but no electronics.
  • Bills Creek, Gilkey, Golden Valley, Green Hill, Hollis, Pea Ridge, and Shiloh have Swap Shop sheds for things still in good shape. Not in the sheds: food or drinks, clothes or shoes, upholstered furniture, mattresses, pillows, stuffed animals, paint or liquids, TVs or computers, or light bulbs.
