What it takes
It’s the only one of Transylvania County’s convenience centers that takes used motor oil. The Woodruff Landfill takes tires, appliances, electronics, brush, and construction debris. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center takes household hazardous waste.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Transylvania County rules
- Transylvania County charges for trash by the bag: each bag of household trash at a collection center needs a $3 green sticker (or two old orange ones), and bags can weigh up to 30 pounds and hold up to 33 gallons. Sorted recycling is free. The centers take cash or checks only; stickers are sold at the landfill, which also takes credit cards. Loose trash and commercial loads go to the landfill.
