Wake County convenience centers and dump hours

North Central North Carolina, on Eastern time

Convenience centers are what most people call the dump. This page covers 11 convenience centers, the South Wake Landfill, five recycling centers, and three hazardous waste drop-offs. Each one’s hours are posted below, with the rules that apply.

What to do with tires, mattresses, paint, and more

Convenience centers

  • The convenience centers are for Wake County residents only, with no business waste. If you bring construction debris or a mattress, or come in a vehicle with out-of-state plates or a business vehicle, you’ll fill out a Waste Verification Form first.
  • Coming in a box truck, a dual-axle trailer, or an enclosed trailer? Request a free Trash Pass before you go. Cars, SUVs, pickups, and single-axle trailers don’t need one.
  • Furniture and other bulky trash must be under 8 feet long or wide. Bigger things, like boat hulls and hot tubs, go to the South Wake Landfill, which charges its tipping fees.
  • Secure any open truck bed or trailer so nothing blows out or spills. Taking things out of the containers isn’t allowed.
