What it takes

The Wayne County Landfill takes tires, appliances, brush, construction debris, and some batteries. The Dudley Recycling & Convenience Center takes some household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Wayne County rules

  • The landfill and convenience centers take only waste from Wayne County. The convenience centers take no contractor or business waste, dump trailers or trailers over 10 feet, box trucks, or heaping loads; take those to the landfill. Pull recyclables out of your household trash first.
  • The $50 yearly household solid waste fee on your tax bill pays for dropping off household trash at the landfill and convenience centers. It doesn’t cover construction debris, yard waste, or unsorted trash, which the landfill charges $45 a ton for ($5 minimum).
