Bedford County convenience centers and dump hours
Convenience centers are what most people call the dump. This page covers eight convenience centers, the Local Transfer, and the Bedford County Tire Collection Center. The Local Transfer is run by Local Transfer, a private company approved by the Interlocal Solid Waste Authority, not the county. Each one’s hours are posted below, with the rules that apply.
Convenience centers
- The centers serve all Bedford County residents, but by state law they take household garbage only: no construction or commercial waste, and only as much as fits in a regular car or personal pickup truck.
- Every center takes aluminum cans, used oil, batteries, scrap metal, cardboard, and newspaper and mixed paper. El Bethel, Tollgate, and Unionville also take #1 and #2 plastic, and El Bethel takes glass.
- The county says center hours are subject to change for holidays or other conditions.
