What it takes
It’s the only place in Claiborne County that takes tires, mattresses, brush, and construction debris. The Tazewell Center and the Sunnyside Center take batteries.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Claiborne County rules
- The landfill charges by weight: $70 per ton for solid waste and for construction and demolition materials, and $135 per ton for tires.
- The landfill takes bagged household garbage, mattresses, electronics, appliances, furniture, demolition materials, brush, leaves, small limbs (no stumps), and tires off the rim. It also recycles cardboard, plastic, paper, used oil, metal, and aluminum, and takes oil-based and latex paint.
