What it takes

It’s the only place in Franklin County that takes tires, electronics, and batteries. The Republic Transfer Station takes construction debris.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Franklin County rules

  • No commercial waste at the convenience centers or the Joyce Lane Center. It goes to the Republic transfer station at 9577 Tullahoma Highway in Estill Springs.
  • Every convenience center and the Joyce Lane Center take aluminum cans, cardboard and food boxes, newspaper and mixed paper, rinsed metal food cans, scrap metal (no fencing), and rinsed plastic bottles and jugs. No foam, plastic bags or wrap, black or clear food containers, clamshells, buckets or other hard plastics, toys, garden hoses, PVC pipe, vinyl siding, oil or pesticide bottles, or black or colored flowerpots.
  • Only the Joyce Lane Center takes electronics, ink cartridges, rechargeable batteries, books, and used cooking oil.
  • House, rental, shed, and garage cleanouts, construction and demolition waste, and painted or pressure-treated wood go to the Republic transfer station in Estill Springs, not the county’s sites.
