What it takes

It’s one of three Knox County convenience centers that take some electronics. The City of Knoxville Household Hazardous Waste Facility takes some paint and household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Knox County rules

  • The convenience centers are only for Knox County residents bringing their own household waste and recycling.
  • There’s no fee to use the convenience centers.
  • Household trash is limited to one standard 5x8 pickup load per household per day. Heaping loads and very large trailers are turned away.
  • There’s no limit on recycling.
  • Waste from businesses, nonprofits, rental properties, and contractors’ paid jobs isn’t accepted. Those loads get sent to paid disposal sites.
  • Attendants check license plates. If yours aren’t Knox County plates, bring something official with your name and street address, like a lease or a utility, phone, or cable bill.
