What it takes

It’s the only place in Duval County that takes tires, brush, and construction debris. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility takes paint, electronics, used motor oil, batteries, and household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Duval County rules

  • On Saturdays the landfill charges residents $1 for the first 500 pounds and $30.30 a ton after that. On weekdays household garbage and building materials are $30.30 a ton and yard waste $25. Declare tires and appliances at the scale house, or you pay a surcharge.
  • City trash customers schedule curbside pickup of tires and appliances by calling 630-CITY (904-630-2489) or online. For small home projects, up to 1 cubic yard of building materials can go out weekly with the garbage (2 cubic yards every other week on bulk day in the Waste Pro area).
  • Hazardous waste can’t go out with the garbage; city code makes it unlawful. Take it to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, free for Duval County residents, or to one of the city’s mobile collection days (9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Duval residents only, no businesses).
