What it takes

It’s the only place in Walton County that takes tires, appliances, mattresses, paint, brush, and construction debris.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Walton County rules

  • Walton County residents pay no tipping fee at the Central Landfill for household waste, construction debris, yard waste, or recycling; proof of residency may be required, and a vehicle with business markings or a load hauled for someone else may be charged as commercial. Others pay $50 a ton for household waste and $42 a ton for construction debris, yard waste, and recycling. Lead paint, treated wood, and chemicals aren’t accepted.
  • Recycling trailers at 20 spots around the county take plastic bottles 1 and 2, aluminum cans, and newspaper and other paper, and some take flattened cardboard. No glass: it goes in household trash.
  • WM collects household waste, yard waste, and bulk waste at the curb under the county’s contract. Bulk waste goes once a month, 2 to 3 items (appliances free of Freon and fuel, furniture, mattresses), free if it meets the guidelines; call WM at 850-389-6121.
