What to do with tires, mattresses, paint, and more

Convenience centers

  • The Dyess Crossroads convenience site is for Burke County residents only: household bulk items such as sofas, mattresses, and TVs, appliances, and clean cardboard, broken down. No yard debris, commercial or out-of-county waste, batteries, paint, oil or other liquids, chemicals, asbestos, or dead animals. Cover your load and don’t leave anything at the gate or on the ground; the site is under video surveillance, and misuse can bring a fine of up to $1,000 or 60 days in jail.
