What it takes

It’s the only place in Cherokee County that takes appliances, mattresses, paint, electronics, brush, and batteries.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Cherokee County rules

  • Common recyclables (cans, plastic bottles and containers, paper, flattened cardboard, glass, and paperboard) are free for Cherokee County residents; others pay $10. Bring single-stream recyclables in a container: staff won’t unload loose material. No commercial recycling, even from a small home business, and nothing bigger than a pickup bed or SUV holds.
  • The recycling center takes cards and checks, not cash: a $1 fee on card payments up to $50 and 3 percent above that. Prepaid recycling cards cost $10 or $20 and are worth $12 or $24. Items with a fee are taken only at Blalock Road.
  • Cherokee County has no county landfill. Large items, construction debris, wood, and anything else the recycling center doesn’t take go to privately owned landfills, among them Pine Bluff Landfill (13809 E. Cherokee Drive, Ball Ground, 770-479-2936), Cherokee C&D Landfill (6285 Ballground Highway, Ball Ground, 770-479-1083), and Speedway Transfer Station (150 Dixie Drive, Woodstock, 770-727-1114).
