Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Dawson County rules

  • The transfer station and recycling center are for Dawson County residents only: bring ID, or you’ll be turned away. Cash only, and no commercial trash. Bag household garbage and unload it by hand into the bins; loads may be searched. For questions, call 706-344-3500, extension 50006.
  • Recycling is free: plastics #1 and #2, aluminum cans, flattened corrugated cardboard, motor oil, and car batteries, separated before you arrive.
  • Neither takes hazardous or liquid waste, refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioners with refrigerant, paint, yard waste or debris, propane tanks, or animals.
