What it takes

Jones County rules
- Jones County’s nine manned convenience centers are for its private citizens only: no commercial debris or garbage, and bring proof of residence if your vehicle has an out-of-county tag. Put everything in the bins, nothing on the ground.
- Household garbage goes in the compactors; metal and appliances in the red metal bins; mattresses, TVs, furniture, glass, and everything else in the green or purple open-top containers. Cardboard, plastic, and aluminum cans are recycled, with no plastic bags in the recycling bins.
- The centers don’t take tires, gas cylinders (propane, helium, Freon), roofing shingles, concrete, dirt, rocks, construction debris, auto body parts, boats, hot tubs, large fiberglass items, dead animals, chemicals, or medical waste. For construction debris, rent your own container.
- Newspaper is recycled at the Keep Jones Beautiful center on Industrial Boulevard in Gray, behind the Government Center, as a fund-raiser for the Keep Jones Beautiful Commission. Jones County runs no landfill; its garbage goes to nearby landfills.
