What it takes

It’s one of four Spalding County convenience centers that take appliances. The Carver Collection Center takes brush.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Each household collection center opens two weekdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Carver and Woodroof on Monday and Thursday, Blalock and Cabin on Tuesday and Friday), and all are open Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are closed Sunday, Wednesday, and holidays.
Show a Spalding County driver’s license or ID, or a permit from Public Works (newcomers can get a 30-day permit at the Public Works office), to use the collection centers. They take up to 10 bags of household garbage a visit, recyclables, and scrap metal; no commercial waste, rental cleanouts, or foreclosure cleanouts.
Akin takes bulky items only, on Saturdays: one pickup or 4x8 trailer load, with a Spalding County driver’s license. No household trash or recyclables.
