What it takes
It’s the only place in Walker County that takes tires, appliances, mattresses, brush, construction debris, and batteries.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Walker County rules
- Bag all household garbage, separate it from construction debris, bring your own tools, and be unloaded and out by 4 p.m.; large loads that can’t be unloaded quickly may be turned away. Call ahead on Saturdays about room for large construction loads. Recycling of cans, cartons, paper, cardboard, and some plastics is free.
- For Walker County residents, household garbage is $56 a ton with a $7 minimum a load (out of county $60, $9 minimum). The county doesn’t collect garbage; private companies do.
