What it takes

Gaston County’s other three convenience centers take the same items. The Gaston County Landfill takes some paint and construction debris.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Gaston County rules

  • The convenience sites don’t take cash for trash: pay with GarbCards, $5 each from local stores. Up to 10 bags of household garbage take one card, a pickup or trailer up to 10 feet of trash or yard waste takes two, and a truck and trailer takes four. Each equal-size bag of sorted recycling earns a $5 credit toward bagged garbage. Recycling is free.
  • The convenience sites don’t take construction or demolition debris. Take it to the landfill.
  • The New Hope Recycling Center is being rebuilt at 235 Lake Wylie Road in Belmont. The county expected it to open in early to mid October.
