What it takes
It’s the only place in Macon County that takes appliances and electronics.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Macon County rules
- Bagged household waste is free at Macon County’s sites. Businesses can’t leave waste at the convenience centers: it goes to the landfill in Franklin or the Highlands Transfer Station, which charge $72 a ton in Franklin and $84.50 a ton in Highlands, with a $5 minimum.
- Every vehicle stops at the landfill’s scale house on the way in and out, and loads must be covered or tarped. Tires, appliances, yard waste, cardboard, motor oil, and car batteries go in their own areas, not with the trash, and hazardous and liquid wastes aren’t taken.
