What it takes
It’s one of two Onslow County convenience centers that take brush. The Onslow County Landfill takes mattresses and construction debris.

Onslow County rules
- The convenience sites take cash or checks only. Household trash is $3.50 a bag up to 35 gallons, $4.50 up to 64 gallons, and $6.50 for 96 gallons, or $30 for a level truckload of loose trash ($45 overflowing). Recycling is free.
- Furniture and other bulky items are $10 each at the convenience sites, two per household a day. Construction items and large loads go to the landfill.
- Two mobile units serve outlying areas: Richlands (436 Cavanaugh Town Road) on the last Saturday of each month, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Silverdale (1355 Belgrade-Swansboro Road, Maysville), noon to 6 p.m. one day a week except the last Saturday of the month. Both close at 5:30 p.m. in winter. Call 252-424-2587.
