What it takes
Berkeley County’s other nine convenience centers take the same items.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Berkeley County rules
- Berkeley County’s convenience centers take household waste from Berkeley County residents only. Show a photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or military ID); IDs are checked at every center. Bring up to half a ton a visit, about a pickup load or one 12-foot double-axle trailer, and unload it yourself. Pickup-sized vehicles only: box trucks, dump trucks, and trailers longer than 12 feet go to the landfill.
- Businesses can’t use the convenience centers; the Berkeley County Landfill takes commercial waste. Special waste has to be arranged with landfill staff.
- Berkeley County’s trash goes through the RePower South facility at the landfill, which pulls the recyclables out, so residents don’t have to separate recycling from trash.
- Unstaffed drop sites are open around the clock to anyone: Goose Creek Public Works (200 Button Hall Ave.), Macedonia Middle School (200 Macedonia Foxes Cir., Moncks Corner), and Stratford High School (951 Crowfield Blvd., Goose Creek) take cardboard and mixed paper, and Marrington Middle School (109 Gearing St., Goose Creek) takes mixed paper only.
