What it takes
The Cherokee County Landfill takes appliances, brush, and construction debris.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Cherokee County rules
- Cherokee County picks up household garbage at the curb countywide, paid for by a $222 yearly solid waste fee on property tax bills starting with the 2026-27 bills. Some RV campgrounds and mobile home parks aren’t eligible; the county lists them. Residents can also leave household trash free in the containers at the landfill’s main gate.
- Unstaffed recycling drop-offs, open 24 hours every day, sit at 15 spots around the county, most of them fire departments; the county’s convenience centers page lists them, and the ones marked with an asterisk also take waste oil. Separate your recyclables yourself.
