What it takes

It’s the only place in Lawrence County that takes tires, paint, electronics, brush, construction debris, used motor oil, and batteries.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Lawrence County rules

  • Lawrenceburg, Loretto, Ethridge, and St. Joseph pick up their own residents’ garbage. Outside those towns, hire a private hauler or bring household trash to the transfer station yourself.
  • Tires and wood waste are taken Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. No tires, bulk garbage, or wood and demolition waste on Saturdays.
  • Wood, demolition, and yard waste are $53.50 a ton for Lawrence County loads and $59.50 a ton from outside the county, cash or check only. Bulk household waste, such as a house cleanout, is $72 a ton and isn’t taken from outside the county. Each has a $25 minimum.
  • The transfer station takes used oil, latex and oil-based paint, batteries, tires, clothing, metal, and electronics, including computers and TVs, for recycling.
