What it takes

It’s the only place in Putnam County that takes electronics. The Putnam County Landfill takes tires, brush, and construction debris. The Putnam County Household Hazardous Waste Facility takes some paint and household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Putnam County rules

  • Putnam County’s sites take only waste generated in Putnam County.
  • The landfill and the transfer station charge $50 a ton, and shingles $100 a ton (since Aug. 1, 2024). Dead animals are taken weekdays before 10 a.m. at $50 a ton.
  • The transfer station takes commercial and industrial waste, metal and old appliances, drums, all wire, TVs, computers, and microwaves. Its recycling center takes cardboard, #1 and #2 plastic, glass bottles, paper, car batteries, used oil and other fluids, metal, and electronics. Neither takes hazardous waste, construction waste, brush, or paint.
