What it takes

It’s the only place in Bedford County that takes tires, mattresses, some paint, construction debris, used motor oil, and household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Bedford County rules

  • The convenience centers are for Bedford County residents, including the Town of Bedford; have proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill, if asked. Businesses can’t use them. Drop-off sites take bagged household trash only; large loads, building materials, tires, mattresses, and appliances with Freon go to the Waste Management Facility.
  • At the Waste Management Facility, residents drop off up to 1,000 pounds of household waste and wood waste a month free, then pay $2.85 per 100 pounds, in cash or by card at the scale house.
