Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
City of Newport News rules
- Newport News residents who pay the solid waste user fee can bring up to 6 cubic yards of household trash and bulk waste a week to the Recovery Operations Center, with proof of residency. No contractor or commercial trash, and no dump trucks or dump trailers except with yard waste.
- Curbside bulk pickup comes on your cart recycling day: up to 6 cubic yards of furniture, mattresses, and other bulk, with brush and bagged yard waste in a separate pile. Set it out after 3 p.m. the day before. Appliances need an appointment at 757-933-2311.
