What it takes

It’s one of 11 Spotsylvania County convenience centers that take used motor oil.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Spotsylvania County rules

  • Every refuse center and the Livingston Landfill need a free county refuse decal, stuck permanently to the windshield beside the inspection sticker; the Treasurer’s office issues them for up to two vehicles. The centers take household waste only: commercial waste and commercial vehicles go to the landfill.
  • Trailers are allowed only at Chancellor and Berkeley: single axle, or double axle up to 14 feet long with sides no taller than 30 inches. Larger trailers and big loads of bulky items go to the Livingston Landfill. The county’s center list says Chancellor and Berkeley allow single-axle trailers only, no tandem axles.
  • Since July 1, 2026, every refuse center except Chancellor and Livingston is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
