What it takes

It’s the only place in the City of Suffolk that takes tires, mattresses, paint, some batteries, and household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

City of Suffolk rules

  • Suffolk residents with ID can take household trash, bulk items, tires, and hazardous waste free to SPSA’s Regional Landfill up to 12 times a fiscal year, in a non-commercial vehicle. Recycling drop-offs there are unlimited and don’t count against the 12.
  • Recycling goes in either curbside can; SPSA sorts it out (SPSA SORT). City refuse customers get 12 special pickups a year, July through June, up to 12 cubic yards each: call 757-514-7630.
