What it takes

Alachua County’s other four convenience centers take the same items. The Leveda Brown Environmental Park & Transfer Station takes tires.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Alachua County rules

  • The rural collection centers are for Alachua County households: one visit a day to one center, with up to a level truck bed of bagged garbage, yard waste, and other accepted items. Commercial waste isn’t allowed; people from outside the county can ask the attendant about an out-of-county use permit. Gently used items can be left in or taken free from each center’s reuse area, 15 minutes a day.
  • Through Dec. 31, 2026, the five rural collection centers take food waste for composting.
  • Alachua County collects garbage, recycling, and yard waste in its curbside service areas (Office of Waste Collection, 352-374-5213), with free curbside pickup of bulky items; GFL Environmental (844-351-0622) picks up large appliances on request. Homes outside those areas can subscribe with a franchised hauler: GFL Environmental, Waste Pro, Republic Services, or Florida Express Environmental.
