What it takes

It’s the only place in Lee County that takes tires, some appliances, some mattresses, brush, and construction debris. The Household Chemical Waste and Electronics Facility takes paint, electronics, used motor oil, batteries, and household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Lee County rules

  • Lee County’s facilities don’t take garbage or debris from outside the county.
  • Everything is weighed in at the scale house and charged by weight: $72.10 a ton for household trash, $15 at least. If you unload by hand, be through the gate 30 minutes before closing; staying in the unloading area past closing costs $10 for every 5 minutes. Bring exact change, or pay by card or mobile pay.Lee County’s rates page still lists the fiscal 2025-26 gate fee of $69.83 a ton for household trash; its fiscal 2027 rate sheet says $72.10.
  • Couches, mattresses, hot tubs, fence sections, and large appliances can go to the curb next to your regular garbage; if an item won’t fit in the truck, the hauler sends another within three business days. Remove or tape shut the doors of refrigerators, freezers, washers, and dryers first.
  • Household chemicals never go in a dumpster, at the curb, or in the garbage; bring them to Topaz Court or a collection event, free for residents. Small appliances, keyboards and mice, empty paint cans, dried paint, and tires can go out with the garbage.
