What it takes

The Orange County Landfill and the Porter Transfer Station take tires, paint, electronics, used motor oil, batteries, and household hazardous waste. The Orange County Landfill takes appliances and construction debris.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Orange County rules

  • Loads are weighed and charged by the ton, $10 at least: $56.40 a ton for household garbage, and $42.70 for construction debris, furniture, and other non-garbage waste, which only the landfill takes. Uncovered loads pay double, mixed loads pay the higher rate, and if you leave without weighing out you pay what you left as a deposit. Check, cash, or a major credit card.
  • Orange County residents can drop off household hazardous waste and electronics free at the landfill and the Porter Transfer Station, Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., where an attendant helps unload, and at the county’s community collection days. No business waste.
