What it takes

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Volusia County rules

  • Cars pay a flat $4 and pickups and vans $8 ($4 minimum). Bigger vehicles are weighed: $41.09 a ton for garbage and construction debris, $33.32 for yard trash, $20.55 for clean debris and household appliances, $5 to weigh your empty vehicle. Out-of-county, mixed, unsecured, and after-hours loads pay double. Cash, Mastercard, or Visa.
  • Keep yard waste apart from everything else, and separate land clearing debris, construction materials, appliances, and tires for drop-off. Stay within 5 feet of your vehicle, keep children and pets inside it, and don’t throw material when unloading.
  • County curbside customers can put out up to four bulky items a week with the regular garbage: furniture, mattresses, appliances, and carpet cut and tied in bundles up to 4 by 8 feet and 60 pounds. Since Oct. 1, 2026, tire and appliance pickups have to be scheduled with Customer Service (386-943-7889).
  • Volusia County residents can drop off household hazardous waste free at both facilities’ household hazardous waste areas; businesses can’t. The county also holds collection days at other sites, usually in November and April.
