Hart County rules
- Hart County is pay-as-you-throw: household trash goes to the convenience centers in the county’s special bags, sold at the centers. Larger loads and items go to the transfer station, charged by weight: $60 a ton for Hart County residents, $120 for others. Cash or check only.
- Recycling is free at the convenience centers. The transfer station stopped taking recyclables on Jan. 12, until repairs are done.
- Liquids, oils, gas, liquid paint, tires, and car batteries can’t be dumped. Paint is taken once it’s dried out; dry it in the can with sand or cat litter. Tires go to a separate area, for a fee.
- Yard waste is ground into mulch, free by the 3-yard scoop.
