What it takes

The Morgan County Transfer Station takes tires, appliances, paint, electronics, construction debris, batteries, and some household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Morgan County rules

  • The Newborn Road Center’s mini-transfer station takes garbage, bulky items, lawn trimmings, and cardboard, unloaded by hand into open-top dumpsters (no dumping trailers): $3 a car load, $10 a truck, $20 a trailer, by debit or credit card only, plus $1.50 a transaction.
  • Morgan County’s attended recycling center at the transfer station takes broken-down cardboard, glass, #1 and #2 plastics, and aluminum cans. Its other recycling center, on Newborn Road, keeps the same hours and takes cardboard; the county says it’s adding #1 and #2 plastics and glass there.Morgan County’s solid waste page says every compactor site has recycling boxes for cardboard, paper, and aluminum cans; its recycling page says those boxes are being removed, leaving recycling at the two recycling centers.
