- The county lists closings a few months ahead on its calendar.
- Loads that take more than 30 minutes to unload must be in by 4 p.m. on weekdays and noon on Saturdays.

What it takes
It’s the only place in Buncombe County that takes some paint, electronics, brush, construction debris, used motor oil, and some household hazardous waste.

Buncombe County rules
- Residents pay $2 for each 33-gallon bag of household trash ($1 for a smaller bag). At the landfill, pickups, vans, and small trailers pay $53.50 a ton ($10 minimum); at the transfer station, loads under 380 pounds have a $12 minimum.
- Both take cash, checks, and Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards, but not tap to pay.
- Cover and secure every load; the county may enforce penalties for unsecured loads.
