What it takes

Wilkes County’s other three convenience centers take the same items. The Roaring River Landfill takes tires, appliances, electronics, brush, construction debris, and batteries.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Wilkes County rules

  • Wilkes County’s four convenience centers take bagged household trash (the everyday trash and food waste of a home) and recycling from Wilkes County homes only: no businesses, no large loads, and no waste from outside the county. Wood, metal, and other cleanout loads go to the landfill in Roaring River. Empty recyclables out of their bags; trash left in the recycling bins or on the ground brings a $250 fine.
