What it takes

It’s the only place in Cherokee County that takes appliances, brush, and construction debris.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Cherokee County rules

  • Cherokee County picks up household garbage at the curb countywide, paid for by a $222 yearly solid waste fee on property tax bills starting with the 2026-27 bills. Some RV campgrounds and mobile home parks aren’t eligible; the county lists them. Residents can also leave household trash free in the containers at the landfill’s main gate.
  • Unstaffed recycling drop-offs, open 24 hours every day, sit at 15 spots around the county, most of them fire departments; the county’s convenience centers page lists them, and the ones marked with an asterisk also take waste oil. Separate your recyclables yourself.
  • The C&D landfill charges businesses $50 a ton for construction debris ($50 minimum), $15 a ton for concrete, and $45 a ton for limbs and brush, and its transfer station takes business trash at $94.85 a ton. Everyone pays $10 for each TV, monitor, or laptop and a tire handling fee: $1.85 a tire ($3.50 for heavy equipment tires). No hazardous waste, asbestos, telephone poles, or railroad ties.
