What it takes
It’s the only place in the City of Alexandria that takes some paint, electronics, used motor oil, some batteries, and household hazardous waste. The Reworld Alexandria Waste-to-Energy Facility takes brush.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
City of Alexandria rules
- Alexandria residents can drop off up to 500 pounds of metal, non-metal items, brush, and yard waste once a week, free, at the Reworld waste-to-energy facility on Eisenhower Avenue; show a government ID or utility bill at the scale house. No household trash, tires, electronics, construction debris, or appliances with refrigerant, and no contractors.
- City trash customers get yard waste pickup on trash day: paper yard waste bags or reusable containers, each under 45 pounds. Bulky brush and logs are picked up by request through Alex311.
