City of Portsmouth dump hours

Hampton Roads, on Eastern time

This page covers the SPSA Regional Landfill and Suffolk Transfer Station and three transfer stations. All are run by Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA), not the city. Each one’s hours are posted below, with the rules that apply.

What to do with tires, mattresses, paint, and more

Before you go

Portsmouth residents can use SPSA’s transfer stations, with 12 free visits a year for household waste, furniture, mattresses, and yard waste. Bring proof of residency and come in a personal vehicle, a pickup of 1 ton or less, or a trailer up to 12 feet.
One truck collects the black and blue bins together; SPSA sorts out the recycling. Bulk pickup is by appointment, online or at 757-393-8629, on your trash day.
