What it takes

It’s one of two transfer stations in the City of Portsmouth that take appliances, mattresses, and some brush. The SPSA Regional Landfill and Suffolk Transfer Station takes tires.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

City of Portsmouth rules

  • Portsmouth residents can use SPSA’s transfer stations, with 12 free visits a year for household waste, furniture, mattresses, and yard waste. Bring proof of residency and come in a personal vehicle, a pickup of 1 ton or less, or a trailer up to 12 feet.
  • One truck collects the black and blue bins together; SPSA sorts out the recycling. Bulk pickup is by appointment, online or at 757-393-8629, on your trash day.
