Prince William County convenience centers and dump hours

Northern Virginia, on Eastern time

Convenience centers are what most people call the dump. This page covers two convenience centers, the Prince William County Compost Facility, the Prince William County Landfill, and the Landfill Hazardous Waste and Electronics Drop-off. Each one’s hours are posted below, with the rules that apply.

What to do with tires, mattresses, paint, and more

Before you go

  • Prince William County doesn’t collect trash at the curb. Residents haul it to the landfill, the Compost Facility, or a Saturday collection site, or hire a permitted private hauler.
  • Bring a Virginia driver’s license or ID with a Prince William County address, which is scanned at the scale house; a P.O. box or out-of-state license needs a county tax bill too, and the person on the ID has to be in the vehicle. Disposal is free for residents of the county and the towns of Dumfries, Occoquan, Haymarket, and Quantico. Manassas and Manassas Park residents pay $5 a trip and can’t use the hazardous waste or electronics program.
  • Recycling trailers around the county take paper, flattened cardboard, cans, and #1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs, but no glass or plastic bags. Glass goes in the purple bins at the landfill, the Compost Facility, and a few other sites.

Convenience centers

  • The Saturday collection sites take only household trash, bagged and tied, and recycling. No yard waste, bulky items, appliances, or hazardous waste. They’re open most Saturdays and close for community events or bad weather.
