What it takes
Hernando County’s other convenience center takes the same items. The Northwest Solid Waste Management Facility (Main Landfill) takes tires and construction debris.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Hernando County rules
- Every Hernando County site takes Hernando County waste only. Show a driver’s license with a current Hernando County address, or an out-of-county license with a TRIM notice, utility bill, or deed. Staff don’t help unload, so bring help, and keep children and pets in the vehicle.
- The convenience centers serve homes that pay the county’s solid waste disposal assessment; the owner or resident has to bring the waste. Since June 1, 2026 they charge $5 a visit for up to five bags of household garbage (60 gallons or less each) and $15 for more bags, bulky loads and furniture, or yard waste. One trip a day, five trips a year with a trailer (under 5 feet wide, 10 feet long, and 2 feet high), and no more than 100 cubic feet a load; bigger loads go to the Main Landfill.
- Recycling and household hazardous waste are free at all three sites, as long as staff can see what they are: bring them in original containers, open bins, or clear bags, and keep plastic bags separate.
