Sarasota County convenience centers and dump hours

Southwest Florida, on Eastern time

Convenience centers are what most people call the dump. This page covers the Citizens’ Convenience Center, the Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex, and two hazardous waste drop-offs. Each one’s hours are posted below, with the rules that apply.

What to do with tires, mattresses, paint, and more

Before you go

  • Unincorporated Sarasota County homes get four free bulk pickups (up to 10 cubic yards) a year, scheduled with their hauler at least 48 hours ahead: furniture and mattresses, small kitchen appliances, electronics and TVs, tires, used motor oil, and up to four 32-gallon containers of construction waste. Waste Pro serves the north service area (941-340-0700) and FCC Environmental the south (941-557-5040).

Convenience centers

  • Sarasota County residents can bring household hazardous waste from non-business activities free to the two Chemical Collection Centers and the Citizens’ Convenience Center at the landfill. Bring proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, tax bill, or utility bill.

Landfills

  • Everyone at the Central County landfill needs a government-issued photo ID (not an electronic one) and closed-toe shoes. Garbage, scrap metal, and appliances are $63.45 a ton ($16.50 minimum), and loads that mix garbage with yard waste or construction debris pay double. Pay with cash, a credit card, Apple Pay, or a debit card with a bank logo, not a check; electronic payments carry a 2.45% surcharge.
