The Sarasota County landfill
What it takes
It’s the only place in Sarasota County that takes tires, appliances, some mattresses, brush, and construction debris.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Sarasota County rules
- Everyone at the Central County landfill needs a government-issued photo ID (not an electronic one) and closed-toe shoes. Garbage, scrap metal, and appliances are $63.45 a ton ($16.50 minimum), and loads that mix garbage with yard waste or construction debris pay double. Pay with cash, a credit card, Apple Pay, or a debit card with a bank logo, not a check; electronic payments carry a 2.45% surcharge.
- Unincorporated Sarasota County homes get four free bulk pickups (up to 10 cubic yards) a year, scheduled with their hauler at least 48 hours ahead: furniture and mattresses, small kitchen appliances, electronics and TVs, tires, used motor oil, and up to four 32-gallon containers of construction waste. Waste Pro serves the north service area (941-340-0700) and FCC Environmental the south (941-557-5040).
