What it takes
Sarasota County’s other hazardous waste drop-off takes the same items. The Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex takes tires, appliances, some mattresses, brush, and construction debris.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Sarasota County rules
- Sarasota County residents can bring household hazardous waste from non-business activities free to the two Chemical Collection Centers and the Citizens’ Convenience Center at the landfill. Bring proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, tax bill, or utility bill.
- Unincorporated Sarasota County homes get four free bulk pickups (up to 10 cubic yards) a year, scheduled with their hauler at least 48 hours ahead: furniture and mattresses, small kitchen appliances, electronics and TVs, tires, used motor oil, and up to four 32-gallon containers of construction waste. Waste Pro serves the north service area (941-340-0700) and FCC Environmental the south (941-557-5040).
