Durham County convenience centers and dump hours

North Central North Carolina, on Eastern time

Convenience centers are what most people call the dump. This page covers two convenience centers, the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, the Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center. Some are run by the City of Durham, not the county. Each one’s hours are posted below, with the rules that apply.

What to do with tires, mattresses, paint, and more

Before you go

  • The county’s Redwood Convenience Site at 100 Electra Road is closed for renovation. Use the Northern or Parkwood site.

Convenience centers

  • The county’s convenience sites are only for unincorporated Durham County residents, who get a blue solid waste decal with the property tax bill. Everyone else is turned away; city residents don’t get one. Missing yours? Call the Tax Office at 919-560-0300.
  • The county sites take household waste only: no commercial waste, construction or demolition debris, dual-wheel vehicles, box trucks, enclosed trailers, or trailers over 8 feet long (side rails up to 4 feet).
