What it takes
Durham County’s other convenience center takes the same items. The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center takes tires, appliances, and electronics. The Household Hazardous Waste Center takes some paint and household hazardous waste.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Durham County rules
- The county’s convenience sites are only for unincorporated Durham County residents, who get a blue solid waste decal with the property tax bill. Everyone else is turned away; city residents don’t get one. Missing yours? Call the Tax Office at 919-560-0300.
- The county sites take household waste only: no commercial waste, construction or demolition debris, dual-wheel vehicles, box trucks, enclosed trailers, or trailers over 8 feet long (side rails up to 4 feet).
- The county’s Redwood Convenience Site at 100 Electra Road is closed for renovation. Use the Northern or Parkwood site.
