What it takes

It’s the only place in the City of Norfolk that takes appliances, mattresses, some paint, electronics, some brush, some used motor oil, some batteries, and household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

City of Norfolk rules

  • Furniture, appliances, mattresses, and tires go out by bulk pickup: request it through the MyNorfolk app or site, by email, or at (757) 664-6510 weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., by 3 p.m. the day before your trash day.
  • Norfolk residents with proof of residency get 12 free visits a year to SPSA transfer stations with household waste, in a personal vehicle, a pickup of 1 ton or less, or a trailer up to 12 feet. The Norfolk station takes residents’ trash only on weekends.
